Renovations? When?

We, the owners of PSC, purchased the pool in 2024 to save it from years of neglect and the likely prospect of it being torn down. Our intentions then and now are to completely remodel the whole facility into a premier destination where our local community can have a fun and safe place to play and enjoy the summers, beat the Southwest’s Summer heat, and enjoy sports activities year-round! 

To get started we cashed in an entire 401k to complete the purchase of the pool and get the 2024 season rolling!

While the season was underway, to complete the renovations we lined up a great group of investors, and once they secured their investment funding we could get the major renovations started at the end of 2024. 

Unfortunately, our investors have encountered a number of unforeseen challenges, and were regretfully unable to join us for the 2024 and 2025 seasons, requiring us to push back the major renovations time and time again. 

Fast-Forward to today, their funding is still not ready in time for the 2026 pool season's opening! We would prefer not to, but this leaves us in the position to have to push the full pool remodel back, and once again open the pool as-is for this year’s 2026 pool season. 

While the pool is safe and clean and ready to be enjoyed, we do believe a remodel is sorely needed as the current pool was built in 1998 and has not seen much maintenance and care since.

I hear you say, What about saving money from membership fees?

Good question, one we often receive.

One thought that is rarely considered when asking this nature of a question is the high cost of the renovations. That’s a lot of dough to save under the couch cushions!

Well, while we’ve awaited investment funding these past couple seasons we were trying to save as much as possible, and we’ve repaired items not as easily visible, such as the water heater. 

But we've found the memberships is just barely enough to keep the lights on and cover some repairs and maintenance.

In addition, 2025 was a challenging season as:

1) Many folks needed to use budget friendly membership options, which does not give enough headway to save a meaningful amount from those memberships,

2) All savings we had been able to gather from memberships the past 2 seasons (plus an amount of leftovers in the couch cushions from our personal funds) were immediately used for costly emergency repairs for the failures in the water pump and water heater. We narrowly avoided an unexpected season closure!

So if we were to rely on membership fees alone, the renovations would need to be pushed back indefinitely; which is an option that presents with limited feasibility to us and you. 

What we have been able to accomplish so far has been limited to items not easily seen, such as repairs to water heater, water pump, bathroom facilities as able, repairing cracks in some of the walls, and fresh paint in fading areas.

Thank you, the community, for your continued support! Without your support in memberships these past couple of seasons, the pool likely would have had to shut down. 

But this rate is just not going to be fast enough to get all the renovations completed in any sort of timely manner!

Finish Line Ahead

This is where we need your help to cross the finish line in getting the needed renovations completed! 

We really don’t want to push back the major remodels any further, so we have started a fundraising campaign to help cover the high cost of the renovations and to be able to get some more renovations started this season, so all of us in this community can enjoy a new, fresh pool and sports courts facility!

Wait, did you say a high cost to renovate? I daresay it shan't be that much to repair and beautify everything? What all do you need to accomplish? Back in my day you just gave the neighbor’s kid a hammer and let ‘em be!

We have received some quotes for the various items to do: 

In order to redo the pool, repair the courts, and other various upgrades the facility needs will cost over $200,000.

Cost Budget Breakdown:

Painting pump house/office building: $500

Redo courts (surfacing, new netting): $16,000

Redo pool and deck, includes: new interior pool lights, tile, cement, drain and resurface entire pool framing, new filters, update pump room and equipment: $170,000

Redo roof: $3,000

Redo bathrooms and outdoor shower: $3,000

Office remodel: Improve concession area: Add office windows and door, A/C, extend roof line for shade: $4,000

Paint retaining walls: $1,500 - $3,000

Parking Lot Gate (preventing after hours unauthorized usage): $4,000

Auto chemical system: $7,000

Clear "Jungle" behind tennis court, incl. tree removal: $5,000

Install decking in cleared jungle area: $10,000

Back Gate improvements, to prevent unauthorized access and extend key card system to allow member usage: $5,000 - $10,000

Storage shed: $3,500

Parking lot: crack filled in and repainted: $2,500

Additional Lounge chairs: $1,000

Total Goal: $242,500
